What families ask most before starting at Roots Athletics.

What is Roots Athletics?

An elite pitching and hitting development program that helps athletes improve velocity, command, durability, and confidence through proven training systems, individualized coaching, and consistent accountability.

Who is it for?

Pitchers and hitters who are serious about the work they put in — middle school, high school, college, and pro players who want a trusted source to develop with throughout their baseball journey.

What makes this different from other lessons?

This is not a 30-minute, once-a-week band-aid — it is a development pathway. We train movement patterns, not just mechanics. Data + video + feel builds true understanding that transfers to game performance. Every athlete leaves with a plan, so they know exactly what to work on between sessions. Our goal is to guide athletes through their development — not create dependence on weekly lessons.

What do you actually work on?

Everything ties back to game performance: mechanical efficiency for repeatability, velocity, and durability; pitch design and approach; mental performance and an attack plan; and mobility and arm care so athletes can access new positions and stay strong using them.

How are sessions structured?

Movement prep, intentional drill work, constraint-based training, then competitive application work. Sessions run an hour in a semi-private group of 2–4 athletes or a group lesson — individualized coaching with the competition and energy that drive development.

Do new athletes need an evaluation?

Yes. Every athlete begins with an initial evaluation ($150 one-time) covering movement quality, throwing patterns, swing, current strengths and limitations, and development goals. From there we build an individualized development plan.

Do I need to sign a waiver?

Yes — every athlete needs a signed liability waiver before their first session or camp. You can sign it online in about two minutes — no printing, no apps — and it stays on file for all Roots training going forward.

What happens between sessions?

Most development happens outside of in-person training. Athletes who invest in programming receive individualized drills, movement work, arm care, and throwing recommendations through the Trainerize app — direction and accountability all week, not just at the lesson.

Group training or private lessons?

Semi-private training groups of 2–4 players and hour-long group lessons are the core of the program. Small groups drive energy, competition, and better results.

Do you use technology?

Yes — but coaching comes first. Technology eliminates guessing, provides objective feedback, tracks progress over time, and validates what athletes are feeling. Data supports decisions; it does not replace coaching.

Will this increase velocity?

No coach can guarantee velocity gains — every athlete responds differently. Our goal is to improve the qualities that contribute to velocity and performance: movement efficiency, force production, mobility, arm care, and pitching skill. Progress is built through consistent habits repeated over time, and that framework is what we specialize in.

How do I book sessions?

Sessions are booked directly with Ben by text — simple and personal. After your athlete’s evaluation you’ll have his number and can schedule sessions with a message.
